Water chemical treatment plan

The following treatment plan applies to this tub (approximately 700–1,100 litres). Sanitiser: bromine granules & tablets. Shock treatment: non-chlorine shock. Test kit: LaMotte Insta-Test 3.

Alkalinity

Every 3–4 days & after each useTest bromine and pH using LaMotte Insta-Test 3. Add bromine granules as needed (2–3 g per 100 L) with pumps running. Remove debris and check circulation.
Every 2–3 daysCheck the floating dispenser and ensure it contains one bromine tablet. Tablets slowly release bromine to maintain a steady sanitiser level; granules dissolve instantly. Tablets typically dissolve in 4–5 days depending on temperature and circulation.
Every 1–2 weeksClean the filter cartridge (rinse or use cartridge cleaner). The cleaner the filter, the better the water quality.
WeeklyTest and adjust pH levels using pH+ or pH– to maintain 7.2–7.6. Add non-chlorine shock (~10 g per 1,000 L) with pumps running to oxidise contaminants. Wipe waterline and underside of cover to prevent build-up.
Every 3 monthsDrain, clean, and refill with fresh water. Heavy bather load, high temperatures, or cloudy/odorous water may require earlier changes. On refill: set pH 7.2–7.6, add bromine granules to 3–5 ppm, then resume normal routine.

Note on chemical brands: All brands vary — always read the manufacturer's recommended dosage rates. The LaMotte Insta-Test 3 gives an instant reading as soon as the strip is removed from the water.

Material care guide

Your Tubmarine combines two premium materials — 316 marine-grade stainless steel and Kebony modified timber. Each requires a simple but distinct approach to keep it looking its best.

316 Stainless steel

  • Use a soft microfibre cloth — always wipe in the direction of the grain to preserve the brushed finish
  • For daily cleaning use Cif Perfect Finish Stainless Steel Cleaner
  • For water spots or limescale use Cif Limescale Remover Spray — rinse thoroughly and dry with a microfibre cloth afterwards
  • Never use abrasive pads, scourers or steel wool

Kebony timber cladding

  • No sealing or oiling required — Kebony weathers naturally to a silver-grey patina over time
  • To preserve the original brown colour, apply a clear UV-protective finish annually
  • Clean once or twice a year with warm water and mild detergent
  • For stubborn marks use a soft brush — never a pressure washer
  • Lightly sand if needed to remove marks or restore smoothness
  • Avoid leaving damp items or planters directly on the wood for extended periods

Tub interior

  • Only clean the interior when the tub is fully drained
  • A soft-bristled broom is ideal for sweeping the tub floor without stepping inside
  • Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh chemical cleaners

General tips

  • Replace the filter cartridge every 3–6 months as part of routine maintenance
  • Keep the insulated cover closed when not in use to retain heat and reduce chemical consumption
  • In freezing conditions, drain the tub fully and protect components to prevent frost damage
  • Regular care protects your warranty and ensures long-term performance

Getting started

The Tubmarine Electric Premium is designed for straightforward, intuitive operation. A 32-amp electrical supply is required and must be connected by a qualified electrician before first use.

StepAction
1Ensure the unit has been installed and connected by a qualified electrician in accordance with current UK wiring regulations.
2Fill the tub to the recommended level using a clean water supply (1,100 L for the 4-person model; 700 L for the 2-person model).
3Switch on circulation using the touch screen control panel and allow the system to run before adding any chemicals.
4Follow the Day 1 water chemistry setup: set alkalinity, adjust pH to 7.2–7.6, then add bromine granules to achieve 3–5 ppm. Refer to Section 03 for the full treatment plan.
5Set your desired temperature on the touch screen. The 3 kW electric heater will bring the water to temperature automatically.
6Wait 20–30 minutes after the final chemical addition before entering the tub.
